Sherry empathetically acknowledges the arduous journey parents face when addressing a school district’s shortcomings. She endeavors to transform this often solitary struggle into a collective effort, ensuring no parent or child feels isolated and unheard. At the core of her beliefs is the conviction that every child possesses an inherent right to an education fostering dignity and belonging.

Her focus on Special Education Law is not confined to routine legal procedures; Sherry delves deep into the intricacies of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other pertinent legislation. Her comprehensive knowledge positions her to offer not just legal representation but genuine guidance.

In her practice of Special Education Law, Sherry performs extensive, in-depth legal analysis regarding the right to a free and appropriate public education. Her goal is to offer children with disabilities and their families the services and tools needed for optimal growth and she meets that goal via a multifaceted approach that encompasses the following:

  • Working with parents to understand their concerns and desires for their children’s education;
  • Reviewing student educational files to assess if the school district has violated any procedural or substantive rules under the IDEA or any other state and federal laws;
  • Preparing and filing Requests for Due Process Hearings and Mediation Documentation with the Office of Administrative Hearing;
  • Attending IEP meetings;
  • Corresponding with opposing counsel and members of the school district in order to communicate parents requests and coordinating proper times for meetings and conferences.

Sherry is proud to be a special education attorney, dedicating her career to ensuring every child receives an education that not only fulfills legal mandates but cultivates a profound sense of dignity and belonging.
